Best rides on the Hawke's Bay NZ cycle trails

With over 200km of flat and easy off road cycle trail, you are spoilt for choice. Whether you wish to ride for an hour or a week, we have options for you. Below are just a few of our favourite rides.

Just An Hour or Two to Spare?

Hire one of our bikes and ride 20mins on safe off road pathway along the ocean front to the historic Ahuriri Precinct.  It is a lovely ride!  Enjoy a cup of coffee at Milk and Honey and if time allows, explore the galleries and old buildings in the area.  Just past the shops and the historic Custom House you will find one of our most photographed buildings in the country, the former Rothmans building which is a stunning example of Art Deco architecture.

 Mission Winery Scenic Loop

A 38km scenic loop that has it all. First, enjoy a coastal ride, then head along the Tutaekuri River and into Taradale. You can visit Church Road Winery and Mission Estate Winery and then head through the estuary and wetlands and return to us through historic Ahuriri and past the port, or do this in reverse!

Mission/Puketapu Loop

All the benefits of the trail above, plus a bonus 18km return route beneath the trees alongside the river to Puketapu. Enjoy lunch at the Puketapu Pub before returning and continuing on the main loop.  Total ride is approx 60km or ride one way 30km and book our shuttle to return.

Napier to Clifton

Enjoy a nice coastal ride to Clifton, passing by Beach House, Elephant Hill, Clearview Estate, and Te Awanga Estate Wineries. Have lunch at one of of the wineries or continue to Clifton Café. Return the same way to complete a nice 50km ride, perhaps stopping in Clive for a coffee or ice cream.  Or, enjoy a relaxed lunch and book our shuttle to return.

Bayview Loop

A 28km return ride that takes you past the port, through Ahuriri and up the coast to Bayview. Have a break at Snapper Café, or head to Crab Farm Winery for lunch (Thurs-Sun only). Head back to Napier through farmland and the wetlands, or back the way you came.
